What this covers
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep. We also use a couple of similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, and we treat those the same way here.
Nothing below is set before you choose, apart from the strictly necessary items. If you have not made a choice, analytics and advertising stay off, and the scripts behind them are not loaded at all. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a refusal and do not ask again.
Your choice is remembered for 180 days, after which we ask again. You can change it at any time:
Strictly necessary
These keep you signed in, let checkout complete, and tell real visitors from bots. They cannot be switched off, because without them there is no working site to make a choice about.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Supabase | Keeps you signed in to your account. | Session, refreshed up to 1 year |
| __stripe_mid, __stripe_sid | Stripe | Processes payments and detects payment fraud during checkout. | 30 minutes to 1 year |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Tells human visitors from bots on sign-in and support forms. | 30 minutes |
| vg_consent | ViralGen | Remembers this cookie choice so you are not asked again. | 180 days |
| vg_promo | ViralGen | Remembers a discount code you opened, so the offer is still applied when you reach checkout. | 14 days |
| vg_promo_trial | ViralGen | Signed token identifying a promotional invitation you opened from your own email. | 14 days |
| vg_campaign | ViralGen | Signed token identifying the invitation link you arrived from, so the offer it carries can be honoured. | 30 days |
| vg-beta-ui, vg-beta-theme, vg_sidebar_pinned | ViralGen | Remembers your interface choices, such as theme and sidebar layout. | 1 year |
Analytics
These count visits and show us which pages people use, so we can find the ones that are broken or confusing. We read this in aggregate. Nothing here is used to identify you personally.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| vg_anon | ViralGen | A random identifier, not linked to your name or email, so we can count a returning visitor once instead of twice. | 2 years |
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Measures which pages people visit and how they move through the site. | 2 years |
Advertising
These tell us which advert, campaign or partner link brought someone to the site, so we know what is worth paying for. Switching them off does not mean you see more adverts, only that we cannot tell whether ours worked.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Measures which adverts led to a sign-up, and lets us show adverts to people who visited. | 90 days |
| vg_utm | ViralGen | Stores the campaign tags in the link you arrived from, so we can tell which marketing brought you here. | 90 days |
| vg_ref | ViralGen | Stores the website you arrived from. | 90 days |
| vg_affiliate_ref | ViralGen | Records which partner referred you, so their commission can be credited if you subscribe. | 30 days |
Things we use that set nothing
Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights measure page performance and traffic without cookies and without storing anything on your device. They are listed here for completeness, not because they need your permission.
Turning cookies off in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking the strictly necessary ones will sign you out and stop checkout from working, which is a limitation of how the web works rather than a choice we made.
